Collegiate by representatives of affiliated institutions, the International Transportation Industry Chamber has, in its structure, two spheres of decision-making power. The first sphere is the Council of Representatives – consisting of 19 Chapters, the Secretary-General, the Under-Secretary-General, and the Regional Directors – which is the highest deliberative body of the organization. The second sphere, in turn, is exercised by the board, which has deliberative and advisory attributions and is responsible for the fulfillment of the decisions issued by the Council of Representatives.

The CIT General Secretariat has permanent headquarters in Brasilia, Brazil, and executive offices in all the affiliated countries, called “CIT Chapters”.

Each Chapter is administered by a president who, like the CIT General Secretary, is elected every two years.

In addition to the president, each Chapter is composed of a vice president and a director for each mode of transport, according to each chapter: land, waterway, rail, air, pipeline, and the special ones.

CIT also has Regional Directors – elected biennially by the Chapter Presidents – who currently represent the Southern Cone, the Andean Region and North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. For each membership outside the American continent, new Regional Directors will be established as appropriate.

The legal representative of the International Transportation Industry Chamber is a businessman and lawyer Paulo Vicente Caleffi, who holds the position of General Secretary. The Deputy General Secretary is Oscar Grenald Castillo, from the Panama Chapter.
